Q: For how long have you been selling jewelry?
A: We have been selling jewelry since 2004. Please view our "about us" page for further details.
Q: What is considered vintage and what is considered antique?
A: A vintage item is at least 20 years old whereas an antique item is at least 100 years old.
Q: What does deadstock/new vintage mean?
A: This would be an old stock item that has been stored away and has never been used or worn. We primarily carry vintage jewelry and most of our deadstock items will be vintage. Providence still has a jewelry manufacturing presence so you can sometimes find contemporary old stock jewelry in our store. We do specify in listing descriptions whether an item is vintage or contemporary.
Q: How will I know what condition an item is in?
A: Vintage and antique jewelry is not new and normal vintage wear should be expected. Photographs are usually a very good indication of condition. We are however not photographers so if you are uncertain about something please make sure to ask. We do our best to include pertinent details about an item in the listing description if they cannot be seen in photos. For example, if we are selling a piece that needs to be repaired, we will most certainly specify that!
Q: How do I know if a silver, gold or gemstone item is authentic?
A: We test all our precious metals and guarantee that they will be as described. We test them even when they are signed. With gemstones, we can guarantee that they are authentic but may not be able to specify if the stone is lab created or natural.
Q: Can you polish a piece of jewelry for me before you send it?
A: Generally we can and all you need to do is ask. In certain cases when considering older vintage and antique pieces, we may not feel comfortable doing so just because polishing a piece can remove the patina, alter the look of the piece and possibly the value of the piece. Please contact us if you need further information regarding a particular piece.
Q: Do you accept returns?
A: We accept returns for most single items. We do not accept returns on wholesale lots, craft lots and clearance items specified as "final sale". If a single item is not eligible for a return, we will specify this in the listing description. Please see our return policy page for full details.
Q: How fast do you ship after receiving my payment?
A: We ship within 48 hours of receiving payment, excluding weekends, holidays and severe weather that would prohibit our ability to do so. If you need an item shipped out immediately, please contact us and we will do our very best to accomodate you.
Q: What shipping method do you use?
A: We use the United States Postal Service (USPS) 1st class mail with delivery confirmation. Priority mail and Express mail upgrades are available at checkout.
Q: Will I receive tracking information for my shipment?
A: Yes. Tracking is included for all shipments made within the US. You will receive email confirmation with tracking details once your package has been shipped. Most international shipments will also receive tracking with few exeptions as per availability with USPS.
Q: How are items packaged for shipment?
A: We securely package our items for safe delivery. Most single items are mailed in a cotton filled jewelry box and a padded envelope.
Q: What if I receive an item that was damaged during transit?
A: We take pride in securely packaging your items for shipment but occasionally damage can happen during transport. Please contact us right away if this happens.
Q: My item is a gift, can you gift wrap it for me?
A: Yes! Please let us know if you need your item gift wrapped and/or if you would like us to add a special note for the recipient.
Q: Are merchandise layaways possible?
A: Yes this is possible for most items over $150. Please contact us for further details.
Q: I collect specific items and/or am looking for something in particular, can you contact me if you find what I am looking for?
A: Most certainly! This is the kind of thing we love to do. Please contact us and we can keep your information in our "special request wish list". It would be a great pleasure to help you find what you are looking for.
